Purpose

Nóbobo was created for the primary purpose of producing DreamRiders. Founder William Scott Roulston became convinced that a huge audience exists for, and craves, a reality-based TV show that would inspire them with stories of everyday people who are living out their dreams. In this big land of ours the biggest problem is getting off the Interstate long enough to find them. A long, slow bicycle expedition presented the best possible vehicle for slowing down to the speed of life and finding the dreamers. Inspired by the time he spent acting in New York and assisted by the network of show business people he met there, William started Nóbobo.

Strengths

The main strengths of our company are vision, collaboration, flexibility and determination.

Vision

We are storytellers and look at the world through storytellers' eyes. Therefore, in the people we meet, we see the story waiting to be told, and we have the relational skills to draw it out. In the rhythms of the road are stories and songs that run like a silent current; we hear the words of the story, of the song, and can give it a voice. We are experts at synthesizing experience into stories that move people.

Collaboration Skills

One of Mr. Roulston's mottos is "WE are smarter than ME." (Some of his friends say that's obvious in William's case...) Actually, over the last fifteen years, William has gone from being an all-star Lone Ranger in his business pursuits, to being deeply committed to working in partnership with others because of the quality of product that is produced. This is great news for everyone that will be involved in the production of our show. Our ideas and talent combined with yours... well, the proof is in the pudding, but ask any colleague at Granger High School or the principal about William's part in making GHS the 2004 Model High School for Washington State (in fact, part of the show will be filmed when our bike trip is interrupted so William can fly back to Washington D.C. and present at a model schools' conference) and you'll know that Hollywood is about to gain a great partner.

Flexibility

To the television and cable networks, our greatest strength lies in our flexibility. In the treatment of our show, we have explored many angles. We have included in our plans a vision for capturing all of these ideas as they occur. At the end of our journey we will have several hundred hours of raw footage from which to shape our show in post-production. The contour of our show will be able to conform to exactly the audience demographics that a particular network is targeting. We like to think of our show as the Prego spaghetti sauce of TV shows. You want a show about fear? It’s in there. You want family conflict? It’s in there. You want…? It’s in there! And because we have clear ideas of what we’ll be looking for and the luxury of shooting over a two month schedule, we can offer this flexibility without watering down the quality of our stories.

Determination

To our sponsors, production partners and our audience, our best feature is our steadfast, we-won't-take-no-for-an-answer, determination to get DreamRiders on the air. If we have no underwriting sponsors, our plan is to go through with the trip and the shooting schedule on a limited budget, using personal financing and creative solutions to make sure we get quality footage. We will then be able to edit pilots for the different networks so they can actually see the quality of our show and the profit potential for them. While it would be great to be picked up by a network before the trip, we are ready to make this all happen on our own.

How can we be so confident that we will get this show on the air? Ask William to tell you of his experiences that have convinced him, not only that the time is right for this show, but that he is the guy who can pull it off. Ask him to tell you the "third-round draft choice" story or the "voice at the convention" story. Or how about the "beauty pageant" story? All of them true stories of successes we've pulled off when the competition was stiff. While we haven't built a track record in Hollywood or New York yet, our ideas, talent and drive have been proven on other stages.

Personal note from William: This website is just one more example of our talent and energy. When web programmers could not deliver the quality I was looking for on the schedule I needed, I decided to do it myself. After some quick research on how to go about the project, I put together everything you've seen on this website— the introductory flash movie, the animated homepage, everything—by myself in just a few days' time. Am I a genius? Maybe, but the genius was in finding the creative solutions that I could use to get the job done. Rather than settle for lower quality or for not getting the job done at all, I used my talents and desire to make sure we were represented well, that we could tell our story, on the Internet. This same level of skill and determination is going into telling the story of the DreamRiders. We may be new at the game, but we already know how to win.

(And, by the way, if you think producing a great TV show is tough, try pulling the highest poverty school district in the State up to high standards! )
-William Scott Roulston
